IMG Media to build Alpari WMRT audience
Sailing's Alpari World Match Racing Tour has agreed a long-term partnership with IMG Media.
The deal will see IMG Media - a division of global sports, fashion and marketing giant IMG Worldwide - work to build the international audience for the in-shore series by distributing highlights programmes and a daily video news release from each event.
The packages will be distributed to digital and broadcast media partners and starts with the year's opening event in Langegarden, Germany from 15th to 20th May.
"This is a very exciting partnership for us," said James Pleasance, the executive director of the Alpari World Match Racing Tour. "IMG is a global player in television programming and has a solid track record in distributing some of the best known sporting events all over the world. The Tour is a growing series and to have the expertise and resource of IMG behind us will be a great asset for us."
Melissa Payne, the director of event coordination at IMG Media, added: "Match racing is fast, competitive and highly strategic with in-shore racing engaging and exciting sailing fans of all ages. The Alpari World Match Racing Tour is ideally suited to all forms of media and we are confident with our expertise and worldwide network that we will be able to increase exposure and drive awareness of the Tour and its events globally."
There will be six stages on the eight-team 2013 Alpari World Match Racing Tour, culminating in the Monsoon Cup in Malaysia from 2nd to 7th December.
