Gill back aboard ETNZ for Extreme Sailing Series
Clothing brand Gill has extended its supply deal with the Emirates Team New Zealand sailing squad for the 2014 season.
The America's Cup team, which, in the absence of any Cup events this year, is competing in the 2014 Extreme Sailing Series, will continue to use Gill kit.
"We worked with Gill on the TP52 program when we won the MedCup two years in a row and the Louis Vuitton Trophy Regattas in 2010," said Grant Dalton, the managing director of the team.
"Now as was then we found the gear comfortable and a perfect product for what we required, it is great to be working with Gill again as we start the journey towards the next Americas Cup”
Gill director Bryan Gill added of the renewal: "It gives us the opportunity for our product to be used at the very top of our sport, and to work with the team to hone and develop our gear. We are supplying some of the best possible kit for the type of sailing they are involved with."
Since its dramatic defeat in last summer's America's Cup match against Oracle Team USA, Dalton has been working on a new funding package for the next Cup cycle for the part-publicly funded team. A new America's Cup protocol, outlining the format and rules of the next event, is expected to be published imminently, which will allow would-be challengers to firm up funding plans.
