Fox acquires America’s Cup rights in six countries

Fox Networks Group has picked up the broadcast rights to the 35th America’s Cup in a handful of territories.

The group’s channels will show the prestigious sailing event on a live and exclusive basis in the Netherlands, Turkey, Greece, Cyprus, Malta and Israel.

Coverage will begin with the opening race of this year’s Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series in Oman this week and culminate with the final match race in Bermuda next year.

“We’re delighted to be partnering with Fox Sports to bring racing to our strong European fan-base, who can enjoy our racing beginning with this weekend’s Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series and running all the way through the final match in Bermuda in June 2017,” said Harvey Schiller, the commercial commissioner of the 35th America’s Cup.

Organisers of the 35th America’s Cup said in a statement that the latest TV deal with Fox ensures the event will be shown live in over 140 territories around the world.
