America’s Cup toasts Mouton Cadet partnership

The America's Cup has announced a partnership with winemaker Baron Philippe de Rothschild to make its Mouton Cadet brand the official wine of next year's regatta in Bermuda.

Mouton Cadet will be on sale in selected shops globally promoting the 35th edition of the sailing race for the 'Auld Mug', global sport's oldest trophy, and at outlets in Bermuda from now until the final event there in May and June next year.

The deal was signed ahead of the final leg of the Louis Vuitton America's Cup World Series which took place in Fukuoka, Japan over the weekend of 19th and 20th November, where Mouton Cadet was served at all on-site bars.

“I am thrilled that Mouton Cadet, the worldwide Bordeaux brand, has entered this new partnership with the America’s Cup, the oldest and most prestigious sailing event," said Hugues Lechanoine, managing director of Baron Philippe de Rothschild SA. "We are both international brands with a strong history, ours dating back to 1853. But first of all, we both rely on team spirit as a means to achieving the best results - whether making high-quality wines or steering a race boat.”

Land Rover BAR topped the table in Fukuoka following a tie-break, also winning the overall America's Cup World Series. Their victory means they will take two points into next year's qualifiers in Bermuda and look strong favourites to take on Oracle Team USA in the final.
